About Us

Ms. Doherty is an active member of the Houston legal and civic community having practiced law in Houston and Los Angeles for over 25 years.  Her background includes private practice in the Corporate Business and Banking section of Texas' largest based international law firm, and the International Banking section of a highly regarded New York based law firm in their Los Angeles office.  Ms. Doherty has also served as in house or general counsel at a major Hollywood media company, a high profile film studio, an independent television station, a national television network, and an internet start up company.  She also served as general counsel for a music conglomerate owned by a multi-Grammy® winning artist where she oversaw many diverse business and legal areas including recording, producing, music publishing, touring, merchandising, licensing, and acquisitions and investments.

Ms. Doherty has extensive experience in business negotiations and drafting and negotiating contracts for a wide variety of clients.  She has represented clients of all sizes from individual musicians, artists, writers and producers, to small independent or privately held companies all the way up to multimillion dollar corporate enterprises and major international companies with worldwide operations. 

Ms. Doherty is active in the Texas civic and arts communities and has served on the board of directors of several non-profit organizations including Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts (TALA).  She served two consecutive terms on the Board of the Texas Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (the Grammy® organization), served on the Council for the Entertainment and Sports section of the State Bar of Texas and served for ten consecutive years on the Council for the Houston Bar Association section on Entertainment and Sports Law. 

Ms. Doherty is a frequent guest speaker at music and film events around Texas including SXSW in Austin where she has had the rare honor of moderating multiple panels for both the film festival and the music festival.  She has also spoken at The Buddy Holly Music Festival in Lubbock, the Amarillo Film Festival, Grammy® Career Day panels held statewide, and The Business of Film series held at Rice University to name just a few.   She has also served as a moderator on multiple panels for the Texas State Bar Entertainment Law Institute held annually in Austin, Texas.

Ms. Doherty is also a certified mediator in Texas.  Ms. Doherty is currently actively licensed in both Texas and California and is also licensed in the United States District Court, Southern District of Texas (Fifth Circuit).
